Pochettino labels Spurs as 'heroes' after Dortmund win
Mauricio Pochettino was full of praise for his Tottenham players and especially Son Heung-min after their memorable 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Son fired Spurs into the lead with a well-struck volley in the 47th minute before late goals from Jan Vertonghen and striker Fernando Llorente sealed a memorable win.
The South Korean talisman has now scored 11 goals in his last 12 matches for Spurs – and whenever he has found the net this season, Spurs have won.
“Next time when Son scores, I go to the dressing-room, shower and wait for the game [to end] Pochettino joked after the match.
“Sonny was fantastic again. He translates good energy and his performance in every game is improving.”
Pochettino revealed that he would reward his players with a few days off after a busy schedule which has seen them play 22 games in 81 days in all competitions.
“My players are heroes. The team is there; fighting, getting results. They deserve full credit. The effort they are doing is fantastic.” He concluded.
