Ex-Arsenal defender warns Man United over underrating Chelsea
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has warned Manchester United of underrating Chelsea in tonight's FA Cup match.
Keown reckons that Chelsea has been rocked to the core recently and it might take a little of fortune to turn their season into a stellar one. Chelsea has been posting inconsistent results into 2019 and lost heavily to Manchester City before winning their Europa League clash against Malmo away. Keown warns that it is hard to predict how the Blues will turn against Manchester United in the fifth round of the tournament.
"This Chelsea team have been rocked to the core. But it might take hitting rock bottom to jolt their season back into life. Now they have to show pride in their performance. They have to play for the shirt, and what an opportunity they have to show that they are willing to do that when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United visit on Monday night." Keown told The Daily Star.
Lack of motivation
Maurizio Sarri has raised the issue of motivation on numerous occasions and the retired footballer pointed out that Man United should look at how Tottenham Hotspur were knocked by the Blues from the Carabao Cup semi-finals so as to understand the true force that Chelsea is.
“Maurizio Sarri has admitted that his players are difficult to motivate and you never know which Chelsea team are going to turn up. Think back to their 2-0 win over City at Stamford Bridge and the Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham. This is a side who are capable of brilliant performances when they are up for it." Keown added.
Chelsea, according to previous match stats, are favourites to win the encounter at Stamford Bridge.
