After scoring late in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday 20th February, Leroy Sane has expressed his sympathy to Schalke fans as he helped Manchester City to a 2-3 win.

Sane made the switch from Schalke to Manchester City back in 2016 as he returned to the Veltins Arena for the first time since leaving the club. Sane unleashed an unstoppable free-kick to level the score before Raheem Sterling went on to score the winner.

Speaking after the win over Schalke, Sane expressed his sadness to towards his former club's fans, "It means a lot. I was a little bit sad for Schalke because the atmosphere was amazing like it has always been here. Schalke played really well and the way they defended made it really difficult for us. We never give up, we always want to keep going and keep fighting because we know the quality we have in the team."
