Schalke O4 are reportedly interested in signing former Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer according to the Liverpool Echo.

The move may prove fruitful due to the fact that Schalke have the fourth weakest attack after managing only 24 goals in the Bundesliga and are looking for a new striker to strengthen the attack.

The 2013 U17 World Cup winner is said to be in the form of his career at Belgian First Division A team Royal Excel Mouscron, for whom he has tallied 6 goals in a total of seven appearances while providing two assists.

Awoniyi who is yet to make his maiden debut for Liverpool due to alleged work permit issues and was eventually loaned out to FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, and KAA Gent, where he started in the 2018/19 season to continue his development.
The Anfield side are reportedly prepared to sell the Nigerian but will only consider bids in the region of 15 million euros (approximately N6.1 billion in Nigerian currency), and there is also a possibility of another loan move.
In the 2018 summer,  the 21-year-old penned a multi-year deal with the Reds before heading to Belgium on loan.
