Muyoti: We lost concentration against the weakest Gor Mahia side

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti has blamed lack of concentration form his charges as the main reason why they went down to Gor Mahia on Thursday 14 March in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) affair.

Homeboyz took the lead but were undone by two quick goals by Gor Mahia in the second half and according to Muyoti, his charges lost concentration at the most critical time describing the team they are against as the weakest Gor Mahia team.

“The two quick goals unsettled us but I have to blame it on lack of concentration. Two throws and two goals are not good enough for a team that had controlled the game well from the beginning.  This was one of the weakest Gor Mahia team we came against and the win means that we still have a lot of work to do,” an agitated Muyoti said after the match.

The coach admitted they did not create a lot of chances in the game as they are used to and promised to work on that front ahead of their next league tie against Mathare United.

“In this game, we didn’t create a lot of chances as we always do and that means it is an area we will have to work on heading into our next game.  I’m one believer of outscoring the opponent. If a team can score two goals against us then we must be capable of scoring three or more. What we have to work on is our finishing and the concentration at critical moments.

“I made attacking subs in the tie to look for that elusive goal since I believed we could have salvaged something but it wasn’t just our day,” the former Thika United head coach added.

With the loss, Homeboyz remained ninth on the KPL log with 21 points.
