Barcelona forward Lionel Messi suffered a groin injury on his return to Argentina national team on Friday night.

Since World Cup, Messi was featuring for the national time for the first time but it ended in disappointment as they suffered a 1-3 defeat to Venezuela in a friendly match. Messi once again produced his master class but that wasn't enough as his side conceded three goals with Lautaro Martinez grabbing the consolation for the hosts.

The Barcelona superstar finished the match but felt some pain in his groin and will sit out Tuesday’s friendly against Morocco in Tangier, the Argentine Football Association said after the game.
