Paul Merson has urged Unai Emery to replace Mesut Ozil with Gareth Bale.

Ozil, Arsenal's top earner has failed to stamp his authority in the club's starting line up under Emery and the club's former midfielder has identified Bale as the best replacement for the German.

"Manchester City and Liverpool don’t need him and for them it would be a lot of money to invest in someone of his age and with his injury record. But most of the clubs below them would love to take the risk if they could afford the transfer fee and wages Manchester United looks like the best fit for him. They’ve tried to sign him before and it didn’t come off, but he’s always felt like their kind of player. They will be on a rebuild next season and there could be lots of ins and outs at Old Trafford. They are also one of the only teams who could afford him." Merson told The Daily Star.

Merson reckons that Eden Hazard will eventually leave for Real Madrid and that would force the Wales international out of Santiago Bernabeu.

"Bale would be brilliant at Chelsea as well but that all depends on their transfer embargo. If it’s delayed could they do some kind of swap with Eden Hazard? I think Hazard is going to Real Madrid. He would have signed a new contract by now otherwise. But Bale would not be a bad replacement, would he? I think he suits Arsenal down to the ground as well. If they could get him in and get Mesut Ozil out they’ve had a big result." Merson continued in his argument.
