Ghana international Michael Essien made his official debut for new club Sabail FC in the Azerbaijani topflight league on Sunday, April 7.
Essien who signed a short term deal with the side in March came off the bench in the 65th minute at Alindzha Arena were Sabail suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sabah FK.
The 36-year-old former Chelsea star will reportedly be involved in managing the club's youth teams as he prepares for life as a coach when he eventually retires.
