Only one player guaranteed to start against Barcelona, reveals Solskjaer
Solskjaer was addressing the media immediately after he released United's squad to face West Ham United in a Premier League encounter. The United boss opted to bench McTominay saying the club will need the 22-year-old in the return leg against Barcelona. McTominay caught eyes of many during United's 1-0 defeat to Barcelona.
"He’s a young boy and that mental and physical output on Wednesday was a lot and he’ll be needed on Tuesday. He needed a break today," said Solskjaer.
Marcus Rashford, whose form has dipped slightly in recent weeks following several niggling injuries, also dropped to the bench.
"Rashy has been injured and ill and it was about him working hard (against Barcelona)," he added.
The Norwegian rang the changes for the visit of the Hammers, restoring the likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to his starting line-up and handing Marcos Rojo only his second start of the campaign.
