Fiorentina almost doubled their lead in the 34th minute but the post came to Juventus' rescue when Kevin Mirallas fed Federico Chiesa who let loose of a ferocious shot that hit the right post with a right footed effort from outside the box as the strike looked to have beat Wojciech Szczesny in goal.

Juventus went ahead for the first time in the game went Cristiano Ronaldo produced a lung-bursting run from the right channel to cut back the ball across the face of goal only to be turned in by Germán Pezzella for an own goal as he stuck his foot out in an attempt to block the ball in the 53rd minute.
