Charles Akonnor has maintained that he has a good relationship with his players and that there are no wrangles within the Asante Kotoko team.

The coach says he goes to great lengths to ensure the well-being of his players, in order for them to perform at the highest level.

"There's nothing like that. I go to the extent of speaking to the wives and girlfriends of my players to find out how I can help with issues in their private lives," Akonnor told Sikka FM.

Despite the pressure the former Ghana international is under, he managed to steer his team to victory on Wednesday evening, seeing off Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors got their goals through Emmanuel Gyemfi, who headed in a corner on 51 minutes before a Panenka penalty by Abdul Fatawu Safiu sealed victory on the 70th minutes.

The win saw them finish top of Zone A in the NC Special Competition.
