Berekum Chelsea have withdrawn from the ongoing Special Competition after the tournament's committee imposed a temporary ban on the use of their Golden City Park grounds.

The ban came after the chaotic scenes that were witnessed at the grounds on Sunday before the kickoff in their match against Asante Kotoko.

In a brief statement on the club's official Facebook page, the club said they have temporarily withdrawn from the competition.

"Good evening our cherish supporters. We wish to inform our cherish followers due to the unfortunate incident that happened at the Golden City Park during our game against Asante Kotoko of which a communique has been sent indicating our temporary ban by the GFA Normalisation Committee," it read.

"We have dissolved our players and temporarily withdrawn from the NC Special Competition," it added.

Earlier in the day, the Ghana Special Committee banned the team from using the grounds, further instructing the club and the officials to find an alternative ground for subsequent club matches.

Two Asante Kotoko officials were badly injured by irate fans during the incident, which has been largely condemned.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
