Football agent Giovanni Branchini who had a hand in Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Manchester United has backed Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella to join the Red Devils noting that he reminds him of Paul Scholes.
Branchini has had a long-standing history with United having worked with them before and was involved in the deal that brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in 2003. Branchini has vast experience in football having represented seasoned footballers like Cafu, Rui Costa, and Hidetoshi Nakata and was also reported to have a hand in Fabio Capello joining England and Pep Guardiola taking over Bayern Munich.
In an interview with Tuttosport, Branchini backed Barella who was once reported to be on Chelsea's radar to join United, "Extraordinary player. He reminds me of Scholes. And I think he can go to Manchester United." Chelsea's assistant manager Gianfranco Zola recently spoke of how they failed to land him in the January transfer window, "We were so close (to signing Barella in January). He's strong and Sarri has always liked him, but then things fell through.
