Three Lions head coach, Gareth Southgate has revealed that Liverpool and Tottenham's Champions League final progression 'complicates' England's bid for UEFA Nations League glory.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur sealed a place in the Champions League final after dramatic comebacks with the Reds coming from three goals down against Barcelona and Spurs also coming from a three-goal deficit at half time to knock out Ajax. With the finals slated for June 1, Liverpool and Spurs players who turn out for England will only have five days to prepare for their Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Southgate revealed that the Champions League final will ‘complicate’ their Nations League bid, "It's making things more complicated, that's for sure. The reality is we'll get seven or eight of those players three days before our semi-final.
"You have great ideas as a manager of planning things and working with the team, but in truth, we'll half of our squad that won't be with us until three days before. So it's more complicated but brilliant for the players."
