Mourinho advises Tottenham on best gameplan to beat Liverpool in CL finals

10 May 2019, 21:00

Jose Mourinho cannot tell which team between Liverpool and Tottenham will win the Champions League, but has advised Mauricio Pochettino on how best to see off the Reds.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, however, feels with Tottenham set to welcome the likes of captain Harry Kane, they can have a shout in the finals.

"I believe Spurs will have Harry Kane back. I also believe that it’s impossible for Mauricio [Pochettino] to leave Lucas Moura out. Play Lucas and [Heung-min] Son or play only Lucas and leave Son out, but I think it would be really, really hard for Mauricio to leave Lucas out," he said.

"Liverpool is more complete than Ajax. Try to play the way Tottenham played the second half against Ajax, if they do that against Van Dijk and Matip, that’s what they want. So there is no point for Tottenham to use some strategy that Liverpool feels very comfortable with," he added.

Liverpool qualified for the finals after beating Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the semifinals, while Liverpool qualified on away goals after a 3-3 draw with Ajax.

The final will be held at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid on June 1 2019.
