Zidane reveals Barcelona's Champions League exit does not improve their season

After enduring a dismal campaign, Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has revealed that their season has not been eased by Barcelona being ousted from the Champions League.

Barcelona were cruising 3-0 after the first leg and were huge favorites to progress to the final but Liverpool mounted an improbable comeback, thumping them 4-0 at Anfield to book a finals slot where they will face Tottenham Hotspur. Real Madrid were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Ajax and are set to miss out on the LaLiga title for the second season in a row.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of their Sunday's clash against Real Sociedad, Zidane was asked about the significance of Barcelona's Champions League demise, "You know how the season has gone for us and that will not change. It is very difficult to win and we know what we did, which was impressive. It is special to earn four in five years. We value how hard it is to win it."
