Matano disappointed by Nzoia draw; challenges his strikers to be consistent
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano expressed his disappointment after being held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Nzoia Sugar FC at Ruaraka on Sunday 12 May.
The Brewers, playing at their backyard for the first time since their first leg tie against Kariobangi Sharks went down in the 51st minute after Dwag Jackson had put the visitors in the lead but Amini Muzerwa rose from the bench to score with what was virtually the last kick of the match.
Speaking after the game, Matano said he had hoped for a win since they were at home and blamed his strikers for failing to be consistent every time they find the back of the net in games.
“One point is a disappointment,” Matano said. “We were at home and wanted the three points. We have been consistent of late and it was not a good show from the boys so it is definitely a big disappointment.”
“We must continue to work hard. They (strikers) do forget after scoring goals. As a striker, your work is to score goals every day. He (Muzerwa) came on and scored a good goal and that is what is required of them. The problem is in the consistency. Scoring goals is like water that has to be taken every day so they must not forget to score goals after getting one.”
The draw left Tusker at position six with 46 points ahead of their next week tie against Bandari FC.
