La Liga giants Real Madrid has confirmed that midfielder Ton Kroos has signed a new four-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Real Madrid noted: “Real Madrid CF and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which is linked to the club until June 30, 2023.
“Today, at 1:00 pm, Toni Kroos will appear before the media in the room of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.”
The news now puts rumours that had linked the midfielder with a move out of the Bernabeu to rest in a season that has seen his team perform dismally.
The 29-year-old signed for Madrid in July 2014 and has gone on to win three consecutive Champions League titles and one LaLiga trophy.
AS report that they may be prepared to off-load Kroos in the summer as they look to rebuild their side for Zinedine Zidane.
Kroos had been linked with a move to Manchester United last season with Pep Guardiola’s City having been muted as his possible destination. Earlier this year, a move to cross rivals Barcelona had been muted across a section of the media.
