Asante Kotoko are perched atop Group A of the Ghana Special Competition, after their 2-0 win over Medeama SC on Sunday.

Goals from Songne Yacouba and Safiu Abdul Fatawu saw them pick all three points in a top-of-the-table clash, in a match staged at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The win, which saw them dislodge The Porcupines from top of the table, puts them in a good position to qualify to the next round.

In Group B, Hearts of Oak cemented their position at the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Elmina Sharks and open a four-point gap over their closest challengers.

Christopher Bonney scored the opener for Oaks, with Manaf Umar and Fatawu Mohammed adding two more, while George Amonoo scored the consolation for Sharks.

Its a three-horse race in Group A with Madeama, Ashanti Gold and Asante Kotoko all having a chance.

In Group B,  its a battle for the second spot between Karela United and Liberty Professionals.
