Manchester United will promote Sergio Romero instead of spending big on a new goalkeeper if David de Gea leaves Old Trafford this summer this according to Day Mail.
And while United have considered Ajax's Andre Onana, Barcelona's Jasper Cillessen and Everton's Jordan Pickford as replacements, Solskjaer will instead stick with what he has at his disposal.
It is believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will also survey homegrown talent Dean Henderson, who is set to rejoin newly-promoted Sheffield United for another year as he gains Premier League experience.
Argentina international Romero has made 44 appearances since arriving at United in 2015 when transfer speculation was also engulfing De Gea. Romero even started the first six matches of United's season under Louis van Gaal but when a move to Real Madrid failed to materialize for De Gea, he was returned to the starting line-up.
Solskjaer resisted calls to drop De Gea for Romero towards the end of their 2018-19 campaign after a number of error-strewn displays.
Mistakes by De Gea against Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea led to dropped points that curtailed United's hopes of finishing in the Champions League places.
