The roots 👶🏻
Born in Bremen, Germany on 2 May 1996, Brandt joined his hometown side SC Borgfeld as a kid in 2001 and subsequently moved to FC Oberneuland in 2009. Fast forward to 2013 and Bayer Leverkusen paid around £350,000 on a 6-year contract. At 19, the baby-faced attacker made his Bundesliga debut.

The tricks and weaves in and out of the defensive line, dinked crosses, one-two’s and mazy dribbles are all hallmarks of his on-ball game, which has seen him be successful on either side of a front three. More prominent when allowed space wide, and the ability to run at defenders and isolate them one vs. one and makes key pass assists.
Brandt’s defensive work is an improvement area, as the responsibility has been dropped onto his shoulders by default when his team crumples. However, his defending is still patchy.
Die Mannschaft 🇩🇪
A regular with the German youth sides across various age groups, Brandt is expected to be a constant feature in the German national team going forward. He impressively holds 24 caps - including two goals.
