Gor Mahia head coach reflects on the first defeat of the season to Bandari
Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has revealed that he believed in his side despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Bandari FC in Mbaraki in the first game of the season.
Oktay says the defeat in the hands of Bernard Mwalala’s men is still in his mind and he will never forget in his life. The Green Army retained the title on Wednesday following a 1-1 draw with Vihiga United and despite winning the league in his first season Oktay says he was disappointed for not achieving his target in terms of point accumulation.
“I was positive we will mount a comeback and challenge for the title,” said Oktay when asked if he believed he had a chance to mount a comeback and win the league.
“When I count and I put people to analyze for me. I will never forget in my life, we had fourteen clear chances. The way the boys played, it was my philosophy, we missed the chances and ended up losing 2-1. I knew from the first day and it was my expectations to win the league with a 15-20 point gap. I am disappointed.”
