FIFA U20 W/Cup: Debut excites birthday boy Success Makanjuola

Flying Eagles highly rated left-winger Success Makanjuola is excited after making his U20 FIFA World Cup debut against Qatar.

The Flying Eagles on Friday thrashed debutants, Qatar 4-0 in their U20 FIFA World Cup opener courtesy of a goal each from Maxwell Effiom, Henry Offia, Dele Bashiru and Aliu Salawudeen.

Success was introduced in the 80th minute of the exchange and showed some flashes of a potential future player. He won two free kicks and made two successful dribbles.

The Water FC of Abuja skillful winger, who is already attracting interest from top football clubs in Europe, expressed his happiness for making his first start in a FIFA tournament.

“I am really excited for making my debut today. It’s a moment I have been waiting for and I am happy it finally came on my birthday and we claimed a big win.

“My focus now is on our next game against USA on Monday and I believe we will make it to the next round,” Makanjuola said.

With the 4-0 trashing of Qatar, the Nigerian team now have three points and seats comfortably on the first position on the Group D table.
