Arsene Wenger believes the "collapse of the traditionally strong European teams" is the main reason why English teams have dominated the Champions League and Europa League this season.
For the first time in history, all four places in Europe's two major competitions have been taken by teams from the same country with Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea making an all English showdown.
“Secondly it’s a consequence of dominant financial power of the English clubs and basically, as well, the collapse of traditionally strong European teams.
“When I say collapse, it’s Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus – why? Because the players who made the difference in all these clubs have aged, and are not in the position anymore to make that difference.
“What I can promise you, is that we will have a very interesting transfer period, an interesting battle, this summer.”
Wenger, 69, has been out of management since leaving Arsenal a year ago.
