Following Manchester United’s reports of bidding £70m for Ajax Amsterdam’s Matthijs De Ligt, the club has now ruled out the move.
As reported by Futaa this morning, Manchester United were believed to have launched a £70m for the 19-year-old central defender, but the latest has now revealed that the deal is not happening.
“BREAKING NEWS. Man Utd have ruled out a move for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Sky sources,” wrote Sky Sports.
“Reports in the national press over the weekend had suggested United could move for the £65m-rated Netherlands international this summer.
Sky have understand that United's directors believe that De Ligt is on his way to Nou Camp.
“But Sky Sports News understands United have withdrawn the interest they held in De Ligt, with many among the Old Trafford hierarchy believing the 19-year-old is set to join Barcelona.”
