Laliga side Atletico Madrid are confident of landing the signature of Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso this according to the Mirror.
The 28-year-old left-back flew out to Madrid over the weekend, two days after watching Chelsea’s Europa League win over Arsenal from the bench in Baku.
Despite the impending departure of Maurizio Sarri from Stamford Bridge, Alonso wants out and has been waiting for the two clubs to agree on a deal.
Current Atletico left-back Lucas Hernandez is moving to Bayern Munich this summer with veteran Felipe Luis, a former Chelsea player, also in line to leave Wanda Metropolitano before the beginning of next season.
The Spanish club is also losing Diego Godin to Inter Milan, and 34-year-old Juanfran, who is leaving the club. They could be persuaded though if it can be agreed as part of a deal to take Antoine Griezmann to the club.
Griezmann has announced previously he is leaving the Wanda Metropolitano, with Barca the current front runners for his signature.
