The GFA Special Competition organising committee has welcomed Asante Kotoko's withdrawal from the competition, in a rather bizarre turn of events.
In a letter sent to the club, the committee asserts that they would have loved to see the two Ghanaian footballing heavyweights clash in the Semis, but would accept their withdrawal.
"The GFA NS Special Competition has taken note of your withdrawal and the concerns you raised in yours (sic) dated 3rd June 2019 on the above subject but wish you could rescind your withdrawal and participate..." read part of the statement.
The club decided to withdraw from the competition citing a 'poor' semifinal plan, after their requests to have it altered were not heard.
Kotoko pulled out of the competition after their demands to play the semifinal match at a neutral venue or on a home and away basis was turned down.
They were scheduled to play Hearts of Oak on June 16 in a one-off semi-final in Accra.
