With Frenkie De Jong moving to Barcelona, the midfielder has revealed that he will have no influence on the future of his Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt.
De Ligt has been one of the most sought after teenager in football with Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain reported to be chasing the defender. Ajax are set to command a fee north of £75million for De Ligt, who is represented by Paul Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola. De Ligt captained Ajax to a semi-final finish in the UEFA Champions League an Eredivisie title and a KNVB Cup success.
De Jong revealed that he would love to see de Ligt at Barcelona but will not influence a decision on his future, "Of course we have spoken about his future, but it’s something which he must decide with his family. What I cannot do is influence his decision. He will have to work out what he wants with those close to him in the coming days. He knows what I would like. I hope that he comes to Barcelona with me, I hope that’s what happens."
