Ahead of the new English Premier League season, Chris Smalling has revealed that Manchester United need to improve on their consistency if they are to challenge for the title.
The Red Devils had a poor campaign as they missed out on Champions League football and ended the season trophy-less. United had a dismal start to the season, a run which ultimately led to the dismissal of Jose Mourinho with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over. The Norwegian enjoyed some success at the start of his tenure but registered a poor end to the season.
Speaking to the club's official portal, Smalling revealed that United need to improve on consistency, "Obviously since Ole has come in, our consistency has definitely gone up but I think we know there’s a lot to work on. With Ole and the coaching staff, we’ll have a full pre-season working on a lot of things.
"Hopefully, come pre-season, we can show what we’re really made of through the whole course of the season and be a lot more consistent because ultimately if you want to be top of that league you need that consistency in every game. You can’t have two or three games where you let your level drop."
