Ghana coach impressed by new boys in camp

Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah is impressed by the new boys in camp, as the team prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt later this month.

Appiah named five new players in his team which is currently camping in Dubai, in readiness for the tourney that will kick off on June 21.

Among the five new players are two local based; Fatau Safiu and Mohammed Alhassan of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak respectively, with Samuel Owusu of Cukaricki and Kwabena Owusu of Leganes on the list as well.

Speaking after the team lost 1-0 to Namibia in a friendly match, Appiah said the new boys are giving the experienced guys a run for their money, and they are a great addition to the team.

"The new players in the team are doing so well. They are really giving the other players competition and that is what I really need," he said.

Appiah is expected to name his final squad today, 10th, and will play one more friendly match before heading to Egypt.

Ghana is in Group F alongside defending champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
