Guinea midfielder Naby Keita has revealed he is not completely fit ahead of the African Cup of Nations 2019 in Egypt.
The Liverpool midfielder revealed his fitness status after linking with the Guinea squad on Monday night. This will concern Liverpool fans after Keita suffered a season-ending injury last month, ruling him out of their Champions League final against Tottenham. The 24-year-old suffered the problem in the first leg of the European semi-final against Barcelona and was not expected to be fit until the start of next season.
“I am very happy to meet my teammates,” said Keita.
“I am hoping to start work now even though I am not 100% fit, but when I was in Liverpool - I had already started training with the ball,” he added.
The competition is set to start on June 21st in Egypt and Guinea believe that Keita will be ready to feature for his nation.
