Germany wallop Estonia 8-0 as Gnabry and Reus bag braces

11 Jun 2019, 23:45

Germany trounced Estonia 8-0 in a Euro 2020 qualifier as Marco Reus and Serge Gnabry bagged braces as Die Mannschaft moved to second on Group C with a game in hand.

Germany came into the clash after a 2-0 win over Belarus while Estonia were seeking to put on a better performance after surrendering the lead late on against Northern Ireland.

Reus goal

The German machine took little time to hit full throttle as Thilo Kehrer fired in a low cross across the face of goal as Marco Reus turned the ball into the roof of the net in the 10th minute.

Gnabry goal

It only took seven minutes for the Germans to double their lead as Leroy Sane ran onto a chipped pass on the left of the area before centering for Serge Gnabry, who tapped into the open net.

Goretzka goal

Joachim Low's boys were having a field day as they got their third in the 20th minute when Joshua Kimmich lifted the ball into the area, and Leon Goretzka buried the ball home with a glancing header.

Gundogan goal

The contest was over in the 26th minute when Estonia conceded a penalty after Goretzka was pulled back inside the box. After having a hand in two goals, Ilkay Gundogan finally got his name onto the score sheet as he held his nerve to score the fourth goal for Germany.

Reus goal

Germany were not taking their foot off the pedal as they got the fifth in the 37th minute when Marco Reus scored a free-kick picking his spot into the right-hand side of the goal.

Gnabry goal

Gnabry made it six of the best for Germany in the 62nd minute as he turned in a left-wing center with the nonchalance of someone who knows that nothing really matters in the game anymore to bag the half dozen for Germany.

Werner goal

After a long spell without a goal, Germany finally got their seventh in the 79th minute when off the bench Timo Werner put the ball in the back of the net to chip past the keeper.

Sane goal

Leroy Sane finally got his name on the score sheet in the 88th minute after previously having his two goals disallowed as he curled the ball into the left-hand side of the target.
