Cazorla signs contract extension

14 Jun 2019, 09:45

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has signed a new one-year contract extension with Spanish side Villarreal.

The Spaniard, who was blighted by injuries towards the end of his time with Arsenal, made 46 appearances for Villarreal last season, netting seven goals.

"My only goal was to stay here and I appreciate the support of the club and coaching staff," Cazorla said.

His good form earned him a recall to the Spain squad, starting their 4-1 Euro 2020 Qualifier victory over the Faroe Islands last week.

The 34-year-old made a total of 180 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 29 goals under Arsene Wenger.
