With Harambee Stars, head coach Sebastien Migne naming his squad for the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt, Futaa looks at the profiles of the players who will represent Kenya in the continental showpiece.

Johanna Ochieng Omollo

DOB: July 31, 1989

Current Club: Cercle Brugge, Belgium

Previous Clubs: Royal Antwerp (Belgium), Lommel United (Belgium), Beerschot AC (Belgium), CS Fola Esch (Luxenberg), CS Vise (Belgium), Coast Stars (Kenya)

Like so many others in the footballing world, Omollo is someone who gives back to his community, with his foundation giving hope not only to talented young players but to the less vulnerable in his community.

After spending a chunk of his playing career at Royal Antwerp in the Belgium second division, Omollo was to throw a chance of featuring in the countries top flight in July 2017 choosing to join Cercle Brugge instead of Antwerp who he had helped to promotion.

Right Choice

His move proved to be the right choice when he was to help Brugge to promotion to the top flight in March 2018.

He is one player who has predominantly played his football in Belgium and mixing it with the big boys in the world gives him the required experience needed to match the best in the continent. Not an assured starter in the team going by the talents in midfield but he is one player head coach Migne will be looking upon should he need an impact in games.
