Chelsea are reportedly making progress in their quest to appoint Frank Lampard as their new manager, and a deal could be announced later this week.
The club wants to sew up Lampard's deal soon so that he could take over the team's preseason, even though the Championship club has denied any talks with the Premier League club.
According to reports, Derby will demand £4m in compensation to release Lampard, who had a near-perfect debut season with the championship side.
Lampard, who is currently on holiday is said to have informed Derby of his desire to leave for Chelsea if the London-side makes a formal approach.
If given the reigns, Lampard will walk into a familiar ground, where he shone and became one of the best midfielders of the modern game.
He will also join the likes of former teammate Petr Cech, who has taken up the role of Technical Director, with talks of having Didier Drogba back in the team touted as well.
