Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau was delighted after his side escaped relegation following their draw against Nairobi Stima in the Kenyan Premier League relegation/promotion playoffs.

Rangers registered a 2-1 win over Stima in the first leg of the match played at Karuturi grounds over the weekend. And in a match staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday 19th, the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw which saw Kamau’s men remain in KPL. Speaking after the match, Kamau was happy with his team’s performance as he also hailed the opponents.

“One thing I would like to say is that I am happy with the boys. I think this is a game we finished in the first leg, our main agenda today was to control the game and make sure we don’t lose,” said Kamau.

“If you look at the results and especially in the second half, we saw a team that had nothing to lose. They threw everything at us, it was difficult dealing with their direct ball, their style of play.”

“Much respect to them, they have a good team, a team they can build on. Our main objective was to stay in the Premier League.”

Rangers will now participate in the KPL next season while the Power men head back to the National Super League and will be keen to fight for promotion in the upcoming campaign.
