AC Milan accepts European ban

29 Jun 2019, 09:00

Italian side AC Milah has accepted a voluntary ban from the European football for next season over breaches of financial fair play rules, the club has confirmed.

Milan was accused of violating financial fair play (FFP) regulations by UEFA over the past three seasons and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Friday ruled in their favor.

“AC Milan is excluded from participating in UEFA club competitions of the sporting season 2019/2020 as a consequence of the breach of its FFP break-even obligations” for the past three seasons, the court ruled.

Ban accepted

“Whilst saddened by the fact that our fans will not be able to see their team compete in European competition next season, the club recognizes and respects FFP. The club acknowledges it has no other choice but to accept the sanctions,” a statement from the club read.

The Rossoneri finished fifth in the Seria A and were in line for to play in Europe's second-tier club competition, but will now sit out after the agreement.
