After finishing eighth in last season, Ulinzi Stars are banking on a good preseason in order to have a better 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League campaign.
The team reported back to training on Monday 1 July and after nine days of high-intensity training and according to the club’s Officer – in – Charge, Cpt Kelvin Opuko, everything has gone so well thus far as they seek to have a good start.
“We have started preparations well; everything is running well so far and I am happy with the general mood in the team because the players are very positive and the work rate is good.
“We want to start on a high and the boys know it too; you can see the hunger in them and also given last season we didn’t start well; they are keen on ensuring there’s no repeat this time. By the time we get to the second leg, we should be among the contenders for the league title,” Opuko is quoted by the club’s website.
On his part, head coach Benjamin Nyangweso said: “It will boost us adding these players (in RTS) to the squad. These are very good quality players and remember they have the KPL experience. The likes of Masita Masuta, and Clinton Omondi will really give us a boost."
Ulinzi Stars will open their league campaign against league newbies Kisumu All-Stars in Kisumu.
