Ligue 1 side Bordeaux is confident that Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny will join them after the Frenchman refused to join his teammates for preseason.
The Gunners have begun disciplinary proceedings against their own club captain after he stepped up his attempts to force a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Apart from Bordeaux, Lyon and Rennes had also been touted as possible destinations for the centre back, but according to L’Équipe, Bordeaux are confident the defender wants to join them.
They claim a source close to the club said: “I think that he wants to come. On our side, in any case, it is work that we have put in for a long period of time. It is on the Arsenal side that things are blocked.”
L’Équipe also reports that Bordeaux has been trying to sign the defender since April.
Koscielny, who is expected to be hit with a hefty fine, will be stripped of the captaincy and will be made to train with Arsenal's kids after his decision to turn his back on his employers.
The 33-year-old still has one more year on his current contract but is pleading with Arsenal to let him leave on a free after spending nine years to the club.
