Matthijs De Ligt transfer takes another turn as Ajax release statement

With Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona linked with Matthijs De Ligt, Ajax have released a statement revealing that the defender has been omitted from the pre-season tour to Austria.

According to various sources,  De Ligt is a target for several of Europe's biggest clubs but is close to sealing a move to Italian champions Juventus. United, Barcelona and Paris St Germain have all been linked with De Ligt this summer, but it has been reported in Italy that Ajax and Juventus have agreed on a £71.6million deal for the 19-year-old.

In a statement posted on their official website, Ajax confirmed that De Ligt had been left out of their pre-season tour, "Ajax left Saturday afternoon with 28 players to the training camp in Bramberg, Austria. Awaiting a possible transfer, Matthijs De Ligt does not travel with the group."

Reports earlier this week claimed De Ligt had agreed on a contract with the Italian giants, which would see him earn £10.8million per season.
