Zinedine Zidane's brother Farid has died aged 54 with the Real Madrid coaching staff and players holding a minute's silence on Saturday in tribute.
The Los Blancos manager left the club's pre-season training camp in Canada this week with the club stating his departure was due to personal reasons.
It has now come to light that Zidane's brother Farid has passed away with the ex-France international left Madrid's training base in Montreal after being told Farid had fallen ill.
Zidane's son Luca, who recently joined Racing Santander on loan, also requested he is allowed to leave the club temporarily.
Farid reportedly passed away early on Saturday morning surrounded by his family. Zidane is believed to have made it back in time to see his brother before he died.
Madrid has reportedly given their coach all the time he needs to deal with his family affairs. Assistant David Bettoni will take charge of pre-season training until Zidane returns to Montreal.
