Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was full of praise for Tammy Abraham and Mitchy Batshuayi after the pair shone during the club's second preseason match against St. Patrick's Athletic.
The two did not find the back of the net, but Lampard, who was managing his second match in charge, was nevertheless impressed by their display in Ireland.
A brace from Olivier Giroud and a goal each for Mason Mount and Emerson Palmieri gave the Blues a 4-0 victory over the Ireland club.
“I thought Tammy (Abraham), in the first half, alongside Michy (Batshuayi) was very good,” said Lampard in an interview to Chelsea TV.
“Between the two of them, they have shown exactly what it is I want. Energy off the ball as well as on the ball and quality.”
“A big element was the performance, particularly in the first half. And the negative was we should have scored more goals!
Lampard further commended Mount, whom he worked with at Derby, and Ross Barkley, noting that they had a good game 'full of energy'.
“Mason (Mount) showed me what I saw at Derby last year with his energy, him and Ross (Barkley), and yeah there were a lot of good performances,"
This was Chelsea's second friendly of their Ireland preseason tour, having drawn 1-1 with Bohemians in their first match.
