Manchester City defender joins Brazilian side

English Premier League side Manchester City has lost defender Pablo Mari for a reported £1.3million fee to Brazilian side Flamengo.

The 25-year-old center-back joined City from Gimnastic in Spain in 2016 but spent the past three seasons on loan at Girona, NAC Breda, and Deportivo La Coruna.

“It's been a real honor to be on Manchester City's books for these last years and to have had such diverse experiences in three different clubs.

“It was a surprise at first when Flamengo contacted my agent, but once we were clear on the club's vision and my place within this incredible project, I had no doubts that this was the right move.

“To play your home games in the Maracana is a dream come true to anyone who loves football, and I can't wait to get going,” Mari told Sportsmail.

On arriving in Brazil, Mari's first stop was to visit Flamengo's famous Maracana Stadium to watch his new club win 6-1 against Goias, to move third in the Brazilian Serie A.
