Kenyan Premier League side Ulinzi Stars has made their first signing of the current window with the acquisition of Kelvin Thairu from Mount Kenya United.
Thairu who captain Mount Kenya to relegation last season has been on the radar of Ulinzi this as said by head coach Benjamin Nyangweso.
“Thairu is a good player; we’ve been following him for a while now and we are happy to have him. Tactically, he comes in to boost our midfield, especially on the attacking front because we really needed that.
“He has a good supply of balls in midfield and we are looking to reap a lot from that. He has started training and I expect him to gel well with the others as time goes; that is the essence of having him in the preseason,” Nyangweso told the club website.
One of the most consistent players in the Mount Kenya side despite their financial woes, the midfielder who has already reported to training will hope that he can help his new side to better their last season’s position eight finish.
Apart from Tahiru, a lot of players are expected to leave Mount Kenya with their financial state still unknown this coming after the club gave two walkovers in the KPL last season.
