Klopp: ‘Difficult’ for Mane to be ready for start of season

It will be difficult for Sadio Mane to be ready for the start of the season, admits Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Mane is currently with the national team Senegal after helping his side qualify for the finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. After the finals, the former Southampton Mane will be given a chance to rest and recharge before linking up with his teammates for the upcoming season. The Reds will be up against Manchester City in the Community Shield encounter on August 4th and Klopp says the game might come too soon for the Senegal international.

“With Sadio, we have to see about him after the final – how he is feeling and stuff like that,” he told the club’s official website.

“It will be really difficult. 16 days before we play City, his season is finished. We will have to make a decision, but we haven’t made it yet.”

Mane, who has scored three goals during this tournament, will lead his side in the finals against Algeria on Friday 19th starting from 10:00 PM EAT.
