After Laurent Koscielny refused to travel with the squad for their pre-season tour to the US, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that the Frenchman made it clear to him he wanted to leave the team.
The club captain defied orders of manager Unai Emery to join his team-mates on the tour of America as he looks to push for a move away from the Emirates. According to L’Equipe, lawyers representing both the player and the club will meet this week and that Koscielny’s representatives are expecting some wages to be withheld.
Emery revealed that he had several talks with Koscielny but failed to convince the captain to join the squad for their pre-season tour, "I spoke yesterday about that. Now, this matter is for the club and him. Before he traveled I spoke with him three times. He wanted to speak with the club, his first idea was to leave from the team.
"When I spoke with him I wanted him to come with us and to continue speaking with the club about the best possibility for him. He decided to stay in London."
