Real Madrid's pursuit of Manchester United ace Paul Pogba seems to have been halted after the club's president Florentino Perez told Zinedine Zidane another big-money deal might be unlikely.
Zidane was thought to be keen on taking his fellow Frenchman to the Spanish capital, as he assembles a new team of Galacticos.
According to ESPN, however, Perez has told Zidane any pursuit of Paul Pogba this summer will be "very difficult', after Zidane requested on Wednesday that a new pursuit of Pogba be attempted.
Zidane was reportedly told the €300 million spent on new players this summer, plus Pogba's wages makes a large money deal very unlikely.
The club has already signed one of their priority targets in Eden Hazard from Chelsea, but Zidane was looking on having one more marquee signing before the start of next season.
This latest development will be good news to Manchester United, who are not willing to let one of their key players leave this summer.
The World Cup winner has grown disillusioned in recent months and made it clear that he would want to leave the team in search of a new challenge after three years at the club.
Pogba is currently with United in their preseason tour and was crucial as the team beat Leeds United 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
