Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed the club is in discussion with an unconfirmed club to sell winger Gareth Bale this summer.
Bale did not play in the club's 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on Saturday night in Houston, with Zidane confirming the Welsh international was surplus to requirements at the club.
"Bale did not play because he is very close to leaving," Zidane said. "We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team,"
"I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done, I have to make decisions. We have to change," he added.
"The exit is the coach's decision, and also of the player, who knows the situation. The situation will change, I do not know if in 24 or 48 hours, but it will, and it's a good thing for everyone,"
Tottenham are thought to be in the running to re-sign their former player, who grew into one of the best players under their care.
Bale's dependence at the club has diminished in the last seasons as a result of recurrent injuries, which limited him to only 79 games of a possible 151 in La Liga over the past four seasons.
