Super Eagles need experience, stability – Assistant coach
Super Eagles assistant coach Imama Amapakabo is comfortable with the team's achievement at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles finished third behind winners Algeria and second place finisher Senegal.
Amapakabo said the Nigerian squad was a very young one that needs more playing time as a team.
“You must understand that this is a very young team. The bulk of them are young players - Samuel Chukwueze, Henry Onyekuru, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, Jamilu Collins - all these players are quite young,” Amapakabo told Sports Extra.
“You need experience, stability of tenure, you also need players who have played for long to win a tournament of this magnitude and that is exactly what Algeria showed.
“The bulk of their players are more matured, experienced and it showed in the game.”
Super Eagles beat Tunisia 1-0 to clinch the AFCON 2019 bronze medal after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Algeria in the semi final.
