Following his transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona this summer, Antoine Griezmann is looking forward to linking up with his new teammate Lionel Messi, revealing that he will try to emulate him in training.
Atletico have alleged that a deal was agreed between Barcelona and Griezmann months before talks were made public, which could lead to a huge rise in the total fee. Messi is on an extended break after guiding Argentina to the Copa America semi-finals which they lost to Brazil.
In an interview with Marca, Griezmann revealed that he was eager to link up with Messi, "Yes, it will be amazing [to play alongside him]. I’m excited to see what he's like day to day, what he's like in training.[I want to] catch him doing things in training that I will try to repeat or do in my own way and get to know him on and off the pitch.
“I can't wait for him to arrive. I will be ready to do whatever it takes: for him, for the club and for the players."
Barcelona kick-off their pre-season against Chelsea on Tuesday 23rd July.
